Tess' Polydactyly surgery and recovery

Tess had her surgery on January 11th to have her 4 extra digits removed.  I was so relieved at her initial appointment when the doctor told me he would do them all at the same time.  I did not want to have her go through this twice.  We went in at 11:00 a.m. and they got us right back to start the prep for the surgery.  As you will see in the pictures she was so happy when we got there and they gave her a sedative and it was hilarious.  She just talked and talked and sang to her daddy.   They took her back for surgery at about 12:30 and she was done at about  3:00.  Everything went as expected.  The doctor said that she did not have tendons in any of the extremities but other than that they were perfectly normal.  She did amazing coming out of the anesthesia and slept the whole 1 1/2 hours home in rush hour traffic.  I was so grateful.  She only had to take the Tylenol 3 once that night and then was just fine on Tylenol and Advil.  The hardest part for her is the bandages.  They were so big and bulky.  She got one of them off and it took us a few times trying to figure out how to get them to stay on.  She healed amazingly quick and will hopefully not have to have another one ever!!

I got this picture of Dr Halsey so that Tess could see someday

What an amazing experience! Nice job on the pics. It was cute to hear how she reacted to the sedative. That's how taffy was also when she needed an mri. :)
